TOTA is the acronym for "Toilets On The Air". Referring to other on the air contests in a humorous way this can be seen as a pure fun and training contest. It was invented spontaneously at Chaos Communication Camp in 2015 and was known as "KOTA" at that time. ;-) After the success of our small experiment at the Camp, we were motivated to reiterate the famous TOTA radio activity at 32C3. This contest tries to encourage ham radio operation from the various toilets in a specific area like a camp. It will help to train operation and you even might to get an entertaining pile-up.

TOTA has been carefully designed to make participation possible for everyone - this is not just for toilet users! There are awards for activators (those who use the toilet) and chasers (who either operate from home, a local hilltop or are even activators on other toilets).

TOTA is was fully operational in many Toilets across the CCH. Certificates are available for various scores, leading to the prestigious "Golden Shit" and "Work am All" trophies. An Honour Roll for Activators and Chasers is maintained at this page.

TOTA is designed to be compatible with other toilet users. Please see our environmental statement for details.

KloZettel: Notes like this are giving the reference number

It is possible to either activate or work toilets. The most easy (and best) way keep track of your TOTA QSOs ist to use the official Logbook.

For calling CQ CQ TOTA, CQ TOTA, this is DK4CKE on Tango 11.

Each TOTA QSO must include rapport and the TOTA number. For example: 59 Tango 03 Diploma.

After either working every toilet or activation every toilet at least once you may apply for the TOTA Diploma. Doing both ears you a special Diploma.
